Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home was established in 1853 by Frank A. Staffan. Being a well-respected builder in Chelsea, he was often asked to build coffins. These requests continued and he was also asked to offer other items necessary to bury the dead. The process continued and grew into a full undertaker
parlor. As time went on the Staffan family built a funeral home on Park St. and continued to enlarge and update the facilities. Four generations of Staffan's were involved. In 1981 John and Gloria Mitchell purchased the business from George L. Staffan, third generation. The Mitchells have continued the fine service the Chelsea community expects from this funeral home.
