Robert Manley Rush, of Pinellas Park, Florida, formerly of Chelsea, Michigan, age 80, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born on June 11, 1936, in Detroit, MI, the son of Robert R. and Ada (Mills) Rush. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. Robert worked as a CNC Operator for the Dana Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1994, and had also served as a firefighter in Pinckney. He also had attended the Waterloo Village Methodist Church and was a member of the Ann Arbor Moose Lodge, Chelsea Rod and Gun Club, and Chelsea American Legion. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf, camping, and travel. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his former wife Mamie (Rowe) Rush, daughter Brenda (Kenny) Bauer of Chelsea, grandson Steven Bauer, sister Ella Mae Dingman, and half-brother Mike (Denise) Robbins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Robert Wood, brother William Rush, and brother-in-law Vern Dingman.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, on Tuesday, February 14, at 11:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family.
