Robert "Bob" Wilson

 

Robert “Bob” Wilson died January 26, 2019 at the Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born the son of William and Mary Wilson on September 29, 1929 in Bunker Hill Township, Michigan. On May 2, 1987 he married Janet Prieskern, and she survives.

Bob was one of the first people to work for Stockbridge Ambulance in the early 60’s. He later became the Fire Chief, a position he held for over 12 years. He served as Trustee of the Stockbridge Township Board for 16 years. He was also very proud member of the Chain Gang for Stockbridge Football Team from 1963-2001. He was a skilled wood worker and made doll beds for his granddaughters and great-granddaughters. He enjoyed being outdoors canoeing or working on his farm with the cows and pigs.

Most of all he was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children Judy Shevrovich, Dan (Mary) Wilson, Brad (Deb) Wilson, Dave (Elizabeth) Wilson, Rusty Wilson, Jill (Kevin) Nevills, Sarah (John) Wilson-Lennen, Gary (Carolyn) Garfield, Christine (Christopher) Gray, and LeAnne Chaffe. Also surviving are his 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Stephens, Mary Jean (Carl) Tomlin, and Kay (Gary) Gee, along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy Wilson, and his brother, Doug Wilson.

Funeral services will be from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Leslie First Baptist Church.

The Stockbridge area truly lost one of our most deserving citizens. Bob was a front runner in all areas - family, sports, government and community events. A great man who will be missed by all!
