Vivian H. French

 

Vivian Helen French passed away on March 8, 2019 in Chelsea, Michigan. She was born the daughter of Theodore and Helen Matthews on June 29, 1936. On April 27, 1956 in Ann Arbor, Michigan she married Richard Lee French, and he survives.

Vivian was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter where she was a member of the choir. She liked to watch her grandchildren play sports and dance. She was an avid angler and would travel to Canada on fishing trips. On her many walks outside she would find and collected Pudding Stones. She worked for 45 years at the University of Michigan, 25 years in the Physics Research Department and about 20 years in the Data System Analyst Department. She was a sales representative for Longaberger baskets for many years. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, James (Cindy Ellis); grandchildren, Christopher French, Stefanie (Joe) Brenner, Ryan French; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Carter Brenner and Jaden French. She is also survived by her sister, Dolly Matthews. Vivian was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey French, in 2005 and her sister, Rosie VanAken.

Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the St. Joseph Village Church, 3430 Dover St., Dexter, with Fr. Brendan J. Walsh presiding. The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
