Lyle Daniel Chriswell Jr.

Lyle Daniel Chriswell Jr., age 88, of Horton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home, Jackson. He was born the son of Lyle Sr. and Ruth (Champion) Chriswell on July 17, 1930 in Jackson, MI.

He is survived by his fiancé, Mary Woodring; sister-in-law, Mary White, nieces and nephews Pamela Boyle and William Boyle, Susan Derosia and Thomas Geer, Rob White, David White and Catherine Yepsen, Susan K. Palmer Weber and Carol Palmer. Preceding him in death were his parents and his siblings, Mary Brooks and Virginia Geer.

A 1948 graduate of Chelsea High School, he also served in the Navy as a Landing Service Officer. Lyle lived in the Glazier House for many years before moving to Wilkinson Street after marrying Patricia Ann (White) in 1968. She preceded him in death in 2006. Lyle was the Sales Manager at Palmer Ford in Chelsea for over 30 years and won numerous awards from the Ford Motor Company. He was on the Chelsea Village Council for many years.

One of his greatest pleasures was spending time on the water. He kept his boat, the Susan K, at the Jefferson Beach Marina on the international waters of Lake St. Clair. He spent much of his leisure time between May and October cruising the waters of Michigan and Canada.  His 40 foot cabin cruiser was traded in for a pontoon boat when he and Pat moved to Farwell Lake, nearly 30 years ago. He continued to enjoy the water and the company of many good friends. During his retirement Lyle played golf and bocce ball on the beaches of St. Croix.

The family would like to thank Hospice Home in Jackson for the care Lyle received. As per Lyle’s request, no services are being held at this time. A celebration of Lyle's life will be held in a couple of months. Memorial contributions may be made to The Patricia A. Chriswell Nursing Scholarship at Jackson Community College, and the Allegiance Hospice Home of Jackson in Lyle's memory. Arrangements by Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home.
