Jack Richmond

Jack R. Richmond, age 90, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 11, 2019.  Jack was born on August 21, 1928 to Bangs N. and Veva (Wilson) Richmond in Gregory, MI. Jack was one of six sons born to Bangs and Veva, leaving Earl Richmond as the oldest remaining Richmond brother.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Hugh, Melvin, Francis, and Norman. Jack was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Feldpausch), who passed away in 2008, and two sons: Bobby and Jimmy.

Jack graduated from Stockbridge High School and soon after began working at Federal Screw Works in Chelsea, in which he retired in January 1991.  In June of 1950, Jack married Doris Jean Feldpausch, and together they raised six amazing children: Carol Furtney (Gregory, MI), Judy Buckner (Gregory, MI), Beverly Outwater (Nebo, NC), Amy (Steve) Drow (Stockbridge, MI), Robert “Bobby” (deceased), and James “Jimmy” (deceased).  Also surviving are the grandchildren of Jack: Shelia Hensley (Jim), Kim Blades (Mark), Linda Wardle (Joe), Lisa Buckner (James), Bobbie Jo (Brandon) Whipple, Christina Richmond, Heather (Sean) Marks, Jodie (David) Cox, and Robert Fonseca. Jack has 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren with two on the way.

A lifelong resident of Gregory, Jack grew up on the Richmond Farm which is now the location of the Richmond Airfield and the Sandhill Soaring Club.  Jack and Doris built a home at the bottom of the hill from his family’s farm on Doyle Rd., and he and Doris lived there until both of their deaths.

Jack will be forever missed by this entire family.  His sense of humor was unlike anyone had known. Jack loved to bowl, often believing that the bowling ball was what got the perfect game, not the bowler himself.  He loved to trap shoot and was a member of the “Moose” Lodge in Dexter, as well as he had a hobby of reloading shotgun shells. Jack loved to travel with his wife and took many trips, along with some trips with the Chelsea Senior Citizens Club.

Family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.  on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, with the funeral on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will take place at the Unadilla Cemetery in Unadilla (Gregory, MI). The family has planned a luncheon following the burial at the residence of Jack and Doris Richmond, 19901 Doyle Rd., Gregory, however the family is hosting the luncheon and will need time to get items prepared.  Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Unadilla Township Fire Department.
