Jan Renee Cooper

Jan Renee Cooper, of Chelsea, MI, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Jan was born July 27, 1954, the daughter of Juanita (Jenkins) and Harvey Wilson in Tecumseh, MI.

She loved being a mom, wife, sister and daughter. Jan loved watching Cameron play sports starting in kindergarten and on into college. She was a volunteer for Chelsea Community Hospital and St. Joe Hospital, and a Chair for the Chelsea Center for the Arts.  She served on a Cancer Patient Board at the University of Michigan over the last 8 years and was a mentor to many other cancer patients. Jan became a Realtor for the Charles Reinhart Company in 1998 and found homes for many local families. Scott joined Jan in the business in 2012 when her illnesses kept her compromised. Jan loved Cavanaugh Lake and her special spot on the deck, where she was known to have a special Vodka Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives.  Jan was a fighter beginning with her first cancer battle in 2011. Her team of special Angels kept her going with their love and friendship over the last few years.

On June 1, 1996, Jan married Scott E. Cooper in Dexter at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and he survives. Also surviving is her son, Cameron A Cooper; her sisters Linda Nurmikko and Teresa (Jim) Clark; nephews Calvin Nurmikko Jr., Jimmy Clark, and niece, Lisa Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Calvin Nurmikko Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the V. Rev. Dr. William J. Canon Turner officiating at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea. Scott and the family will receive friends at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cooper family.

So Sorry for you loss. This is a very difficult time after a long battle Jan courageously fought. We will pray that Cameron and you are able to move forward knowing you did your best to Love and support Jan. May Jan Rest In Peace.
