Amelia Bohne Beyer


Amelia Bohne Beyer, age 90, passed away on September 28, 2019 in Spring Arbor, Michigan. She was born in Pinckney, MI on September 26, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Amelia (Oden) Hess.  She is survived by her husband Ronald K. Beyer of Waterloo, whom she married on June 24, 1991 in Denver, CO. Also surviving are three children, Scott (Lisa) Beyer, Mark (Cynthia) Beyer, and Gayle (Anthony) Fischer, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Amelia was an avid horseman. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout Michigan and Ohio with their horses, creating wonderful memories, along with traveling West for additional riding adventures. She was a member of the Waterloo Horsemen's Association and the Michigan Trail Riders Association. Her love of nature was also sustained by camping and additional travel throughout the US, including Yellowstone, Colorado, the West coast and Alaska. She loved animals of all kinds and had a special place in her heart for rescue animals. She was active in 4-H as a youth as well as being a lifelong member of the Humane Society. She enjoyed bowling, golf, quilting and crafting. Amelia was also an active member of the Waterloo Village United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Waterloo Village United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Waterloo Twp. Those wishing to make a contribution in Amelia’s name may do so to the Humane Society of one’s choice or to Horses’ Haven.

So, so sorry to hear of Amelia's passing. She was a wonderful, loving, caring, sharing spirit to all of us Waterloo friends and neighbors. I am blessed with many, many memories of her and interactions with her in all sorts of capacities; 4-H, horses, many visits, Waterloo family life, a forever friend. May she rest in eternal peace and joy. She is truly missed.
