Billie Jean Dreffs

Billie Jean Dreffs was born on August 31, 1935 in Plainwell, MI to William “Bill” and Ruby Ross.  In the 1940s, Bill moved the family to the Whitmore Lake area as he got a job at the Willow Run bomber plant.  At 19, Billie married her first husband, Jack Fry, and had three children: Michele, Susan, and Steven. Several years later, they divorced.  In 1962, Billie married Vincent “Bill” Dreffs and gained two children, Michael and Sandra. Together, Bill and Billie had three children: Cynthia, Edward, and Vincent Jr.  They were married nearly 40 years.

Billie is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ruby Ross, her sister Dorothy Knoedler, and her husband and soulmate, Bill Dreffs.  Her life will forever be cherished by her children Michael (Cathy) Dreffs, Sandra (Jack) Coffey, Michele (Rob) Manning, Susan Jacobs, Steven (Linda) Fry, Cynthia (Don) Lees, Edward (Sandra) Dreffs, and Vincent Dreffs Jr., her 16 grandchildren, and her 9 great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at the Chelsea Retirement Center (CRC) Chapel.  The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m with services starting at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, Billie has requested that donations be sent in her name to CRC’s UMRC Foundation, 805 W. Middle Street, Chelsea, MI 48118.
