Jean Marie Rowse

Jean Marie Rowse, age 96, of Stockbridge, MI, passed away on June 30, 2025 in Howell, MI. She was born in Jackson, MI on July 21, 1928, the daughter of Harry and Frances Bowen. She was the fourth of five children.

Jean graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1945 at 16 years old. Jean was a tremendous speller. She won gold medals in several Spelling B’s, eventually making it to the finals in Howell, winning a dictionary at 10 years of age.

She married Gale Rowse in 1949, and they were married for 61 years. Gale passed away on June 14, 2010.

Family was her whole life. She loved to go to family gatherings and spoil the grandkids. She loved every kind of flower, but her hobby was cultivating African Violets. She had 50 violets at one time, and she was very proud of them.

Jean grew up on Van Syckle Road near Gregory. She moved to her home north of Stockbridge in 1948 and lived in the same house for 77 years. She always had a huge flower garden, and sometimes cars would stop just to admire.

Jean will be greatly missed but had a great long life. Jean is survived by two sons, Lynn (Louanne) Rowse and Terry (Anne) Rowse; five grandchildren, Heather (Ian) Lewis Eichel, Alicia Rowse, Julia (Mike) Offenbacher, Michael (Amber) Rowse, and David (Kristen) Rowse; five great-grandchildren: Nora Lewis, Jason Rowse, Emily Rowse, Gabriel Fillmore-Rowse, and Adrianne Fillmore-Rowse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Frances Bowen; her husband, Gale Rowse; two brothers, Allen and Edward; and two sisters, Betty and Dorothy.

Visitation will be held at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery.

Mary L. Bollinger

Mary Lloyd Bollinger, age 79, of Tecumseh, formerly of Chelsea, MI, passed away on June 28, 2025 at her home.

Mary was born on July 21, 1945 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (Weinman) Alban. She married Duane R. Bollinger in Chelsea, MI, on June 14, 1961, and they lived in Chelsea for many years where they raised their family.

Mary loved to visit with people. She was a good cook and loved to cook for her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed going to the casino and going out to eat. Duane and Mary wintered in Bradenton, FL for many years, where she attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Duane Bollinger; two sons, Gary (Paulette Garbo) of South Lyon, and Chuck Bollinger of Tecumseh; a granddaughter, Monique Bollinger, and great-grandson, Hudson. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family wishes to express their special thanks to the Chelsea Cancer Center.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2-4 p.m., and on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, with Rev. Dave Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea, MI.

Alissa D. Goodrich

Alissa D. Goodrich, age 31, of Stockbridge, MI, formerly of Owosso and Flint, MI, passed away on June 25, 2025.

Alissa was born on December 10, 1993, in Superior Twp., MI, the daughter of Dawn Hughes and Robert Liljehorn.

She attended school in Grand Blanc, MI. She married Quinton A. Goodrich in 2014. Alissa cherished her son, Christian. Being his mom was her greatest joy. She shared a close bond with her Grandma Joyce and Papa John, and her dog, Remy. Alissa loved plants, the ocean, writing poetry, and riding her John Deere lawn mower when she was young. She loved getting her nails done, dressing up, shopping, and feeling beautiful.

Alissa is survived by her husband, Quinton, and a son, Christian Kole Goodrich; her mother, Dawn Hughes (Matt Stone) of Owosso; her grandmother, Joyce Salyer of Stockbridge; siblings, Kyle Hughes of Florida and Ashley Hughes of Munith; and her in-laws, Keith and Linda Goodrich of Lapeer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Liljehorn; her grandfathers, John Salyer and Richard Stutzman; her grandmother, Mary Ann Liljehorn; her uncle, Al Liljehorn; and her aunts, Melinda Liljehorn and Susie Liljehorn.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, 12:00 p.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge, MI. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Bruce A. Klingbeil

Bruce Alan Klingbeil, age 65, of Stockbridge, MI, passed away on June 22, 2025 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital.

Bruce was born on September 21, 1959 in Ishpeming, MI, the son of Merle and Roberta (Hanna) Klingbeil. He grew up in Lansing and moved to Sheridan, MI, where he graduated from high school. He worked for the NAPA store in Stockbridge for 30 plus years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, golfing, or foraging for mushrooms.

He married Patricia (Stevens) on September 20, 1993, and she survives. Bruce is also survived by three children, Keith (Melissa) Choat of Leslie, Staci (Scott) Fletcher of Grass Lake, Courtney (Vinny) Pederson of Oregon; six grandchildren, Shane, Jenna, Jahayza, Sophia, Takoda, and Piper; his siblings: Merle "Butch" (Sandy) Klingbeil of Sheridan, Robert (Brenda) Klingbeil of Sheridan, Stan (Debbie) Klingbeil of Lansing, Cheri (Hubbard Capes) Curtis of Grand Rapids, Sandy (Craig Benedict) Warner of Greenville, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 5-7 p.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, as well as on Saturday at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Swieringa officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Henrietta Twp.

Audrey J. Price

Audrey J. Price, long-time resident of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully February 21, 2025 at age 97.

Born in Jackson County to Harry L. and Helen R. (Harwood) Burgess September 26, 1927, much of her youth was spent in Munith and Leslie. Audrey graduated Leslie High School in 1945, where she enjoyed supporting the athletic teams as a cheerleader. Her love of dancing led her to meet and marry her husband, and dance partner of 49 years, Robert (Bob) Price, on June 19, 1949. Together they raised three children in Stockbridge, and enjoyed square dancing, golf, euchre with friends, and travelling.

After her children had grown, Audrey began a second career with the Stockbridge School District working first as a cashier in the cafeteria of the high school, then as administrative secretary until her retirement.  Her other love was playing the piano at any opportunity. She is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews for impromptu “concerts” during holiday gatherings, frequently accompanying her sisters’ singing talents. As a member of the Stockbridge Garden Club, Audrey enjoyed the comradery and the community projects. In later years she quipped of enjoying a “supervisory role”.

She enjoyed people and purpose. Her laugh, wit, and enjoyment of life made her “the life of the party”. She could often be found engaging in banter with the “coffee club” at Gordie’s Power Equipment in Gregory, or just having a phone chat with her many friends.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and two sisters, Bev Pixley and Judith May. She is survived by her three children, Robert (Christine) of California, Ben (Mary) of Stockbridge, and Edie (Nathan) Lindeburg of Colorado; and sister, Peg Scott of Pleasant Lake; in addition, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two nephews, and two nieces.

A celebration of life will be held this summer on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge. A private interment will take place at that time at a later date.

Rick D. DePottey

Rick Dewayne DePottey, age 65, of Pinckney, MI, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2025, at his home in the arms of his family.

Rick was born June 24, 1959, in Highland Park, MI, to the late Donald and Winifred DePottey. Rick was very well known in his community. He deeply loved his family and friends. He moved to Pinckney as a young boy and grew a life there. He was a Pinckney High School graduate in 1977. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and getting into shenanigans with his buddies. He was a boy’s boy. Rick enjoyed the outdoors, especially ice fishing and hunting. He liked to go for long drives down the back roads with his favorite boy, Pete.

Rick is survived and missed by his loving wife, Janie DePottey; and his children, Rachel DePottey and Ashley DePottey; forever cherished and remembered by his four grandchildren, Payton, Leah, Oakley, and Jax; a sibling, Linda (Smith-Baker); and loved forever by his ex-wife and dear friend, Teresa DePottey (Bennett).

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ray DePottey and Winifred Arlene DePottey, and two sisters, Pam Smith and Becky Smith.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Patty Lynn Dunaway

Patty (Watkins) Dunaway, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on June 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

Patty is the cherished mother of Britney, Misty, Maggie, and Nicholas; the loving daughter of Rodney Watkins and the late Magaline Marshall Bedell; and the dear sister of Robby Watkins and the late Peggy Marshall Shepherd.

Patty was the life of the party—known for her vibrant spirit, infectious laugh, and deep love for her family and friends. She found joy in togetherness and was happiest surrounded by loved ones. Her love for her mother remained close to her heart throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Eleanor “Ellie” M. Unterbrink

Eleanor “Ellie” Mary Emma Elizabeth Unterbrink, of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away in Jackson, Michigan, surrounded by her family on June 21, 2025.

She was born the daughter of Hugo and Magaline (Buss) Schroeder on April 15, 1943. On November 23, 1963, in Kalida, Ohio, she married Kenneth B. Unterbrink, and he survives.

Ellie was known to love the outdoors and nature. She was a master gardener and never missed a sporting event for her children and grandchildren. Ellie enjoyed traveling and assisting Ken with his Knights of Columbus work. The Knights said that Ellie brought a sense of inclusion and love to the group. She was a member of the Equestrian Order Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (Dame Grand Cross Holy Sepulchre), and she was honored for the many years of support she and Ken gave to the St. Louis Center. Faith and family were foremost in her life.

In addition to her husband Ken, she is survived by her daughters: Amy (Rick) Poljan, Beth (Todd) Starkey, Lisa (Dean) Castile, and Laura Maybaum. Additionally, Ellie is survived by her 13 grandchildren: Ellie Maybaum, Aden Castile, Chloe Castile, Quinn Starkey, Cameron Starkey, Tanner Starkey, Buddy (Kimberly) Poljan, Hillary Poljan, David (Bridgette) Poljan, Anthony (Ellie) Poljan, Rebecka (Nicholas) Williams, Bo Poljan, Mary Poljan; and three great-grandchildren: Bjorn Poljan, Richard Poljan V, and a great-grandson expected to be born in November.  Ellie is also survived by her siblings: Angela Maag, Elizabeth Schroeder, Alex (Nancy) Schroeder, Rev. Stephen Schroeder, JoAnna Rieman, Ted (Judy) Schroeder, Rita (Stan) Kuhlman, and Frank (Dorothy) Schroeder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Drew Bryan Starkey, brother George Schroeder, sister Verena Schmitz and brother John Schroeder.

The family will receive family and friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, with Rev. Stephen Schroeder and Con-Celebrant V. Rev. Dr. William J. Canon Turner. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the Mass.

A luncheon will be held at St. Mary Hall after Ellie's funeral Mass.

Robert S. Wesner

Robert Shannon Wesner, age 46, of Chelsea, MI, passed away at his home on June 13th, 2025. He was born the son of Terry H. and Mary Ann (Klein) Wesner on February 27, 1979 in Royal Oak, MI.

Rob enjoyed graphic arts and design and was a talented artist. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and family, and loved using ingredients that he grew himself. He loved his dog, Madigan.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann; brothers, Thomas Stewart Wesner and Timothy Joseph Wesner. He is also survived by his uncle, Robert Brian Wesner, M.D.; aunt, Edna Klein; cousins Debra (Nelson) DeSa E Silva, and Amy (Francis) Witter. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Terry Wesner; uncle, Jerry Klein; aunt, Joanne Klein; and his grandparents.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Penny Jean Trinkle

Penny Jean Trinkle, age 77, of Dexter, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2025.

She was born on January 14, 1948, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Van and Virginia Perry, one of ten siblings. She grew up in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School.

On February 9, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas P. Trinkle. They built a life centered on faith and family and raised their three children—Tammie, Tony, and Chad—on their family farm in Dexter.

A devoted Christian, she read the Bible daily and found comfort in watching Christian television. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was dearly loved by her family and her many friends.

Penny is survived by her children, Tammie (Kevin) Christian and Tony (Julie) Trinkle; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Trinkle; eight grandchildren—Samantha (Kyle), Alissa (Kyle), Connor, Nick, Ryan, Emily, Nate, and Josh; and great-grandchildren, Maya and Caroline. She is also survived by her siblings: Bernard (Linda) Perry, Violet (Ken) Johnston, Mary Perry, Connie (John) Brigham, Lenny (Gary) Kircher, Joe (Paula) Perry, and Carol (Ron) Josephson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Chad Trinkle, a brother, Louie Perry, and a sister, Kathy Perry.

The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 and 6:00–8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kurt Hutchens officiating.
