Shirley A. (Barth) Vandervoort, age 84, passed away on May 11, 2021 at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility of Jackson, MI. She was born in Chelsea, MI on March 8, 1937, daughter of Arthur M. and Effie (Mae) Barth. She married Adrianus (Art) B. Vandervoort, and he preceded her in death in 2006.

Shirley grew up on a sheep farm in the Chelsea area. She loved deer hunting and spending any amount of time up north at the family deer camp where she and Art ultimately retired—affectionately known as The Possum’s Nest. Most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Michelle) Weber, Todd (Shelly) Weber, Lisa Smith, and David (Tammy) Weber; grandchildren, Joshua, Ilah, and Kristi; great-grandchildren, Damien, Logan, and Landan; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Art, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Art Barth, Jr. and Don Barth.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 14, 11:00 a.m., Avery Township Cemetery, in Atlanta, MI. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Shirley’s name to the Elk Country Animal Shelter, 11484 Youngs Rd., Atlanta, MI 49709. Arrangements by Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea.
