Jeffrey K. Emmert

Jeffrey Keiller Emmert, age 76, of Chelsea, MI, passed away on October 12, 2025.

Jeff was born on August 24, 1949 in North Syracuse, NY, the son of Willard and Elizabeth (Smith) Emmert. After graduating from North Syracuse High School, he moved to Michigan to attend Hillsdale College, graduating in 1971 with a degree in chemistry. Shortly thereafter, he began working for Chrysler Proving Grounds, where he worked for 34 years, retiring in 2005 as Supervisor of Vehicle Development and Synthesis.

He married Lois A. (Hepburn) on February 15, 1975 in Chelsea, MI, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Jeff enjoyed lake life and spending time with family. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and attending their many school and sporting events. He was a legend for his Lionel train set.

Jeff was an avid University of Michigan fan. He also enjoyed golfing and was a member of Inverness Country Club for many years, where he also served as a board member and earned honorary member status. He was quick with a joke and loved telling stories. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, Steve (Angi) Emmert of Howell; six grandchildren: Tyler Emmert (Kinsey) of Gregory, Jessica Emmert (Garrett Steele) of Grass Lake, Brandon Emmert of Bonita Springs, FL, Courtney Emmert (Braylon) of Kalamazoo, Grahm DeSantis, and Abram DeSantis; a brother, Eric (Debra) Emmert of Cicero, NY; sisters-in-law, Carol Boyd of Sugarland, Texas, and Kathy Hepburn of Mason, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 3-6 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

The family encourages all to wear golf attire for the visitation and funeral.

Memorial contributions may be made to Inverness Country Club or UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation, Benevolent Care Fund.
