Harold Allen "Hal" Losey, age 77, of Dexter, MI, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 12, 2025 at his home in Lima Twp, MI.
Harold was born on July 6, 1948 in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Richard and Donna (Price) Losey. He served in the US Army from 1968-70, and then was transferred to the Reserves being discharged in 1974.
On September 30, 1968, he married Teresa A. "Terry" Jedele, and they were married for nearly 48 years before she passed away in 2016. Hal worked as a lineman for Michigan Bell, retiring after 27 years of service. He was an extraordinarily patriotic man with a witty sense of humor until the very end. He loved music and had the talent to play almost anything he picked up. His favorites were piano and guitar, and he even performed on a stage in Nashville, when his daughter challenged him. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, although we definitely knew it would rain when he went, but that didn’t stop him. He was a talented woodworker and could usually be found doing some sort of wood working or whittling something out of one piece of wood. He was an all around handyman and could fix most anything. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and especially his grandkids, and he was the only man we knew who still used a paper map to plan his travels. He was active in the Chelsea Senior Center and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Hal is survived by two children, Shannon (Dave) Agar of Pinckney, and Shawn (Mike) Kennedy of Texas; four grandchildren: Spencer, Samantha, Izabel, and Mackenzie; and his siblings, Kris Losey, Paul (Karen) Losey, Eric Losey, and Gary (Mary) Losey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Terry, and his second wife, Margaret.
Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at Shalom Lutheran Church, 1740 M-36, Pinckney, on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Dan Quagliata officiating. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Freedom River in memory of Hal Losey.
