Robert James “Bob” Chrisman Sr., age 87, of Munith, MI, passed away on August 18, 2026 at Pleasant Manor AFC Home in Rives Township, MI. He was born on June 18, 1939, in Jackson, MI, and grew up in the Jackson area, attending St. Mary Catholic Schools. Robert worked for many years as a Tool Crib Attendant at Wolverine Technologies in Jackson, MI.
On June 15, 1974, he married Charlene R. (Shew) at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church in Bunkerhill Township. They shared 52 years of marriage before her passing on March 18, 2026. Robert and Charlene were both active members of the Munith Lions Club and devoted many years to raising dogs for Leader Dogs for the Blind and traveling extensively in support of the organization.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was also a longtime Detroit Red Wings fan. Robert served as a volunteer firefighter with the Henrietta Fire Department for 20 years. He was a member of Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Robert is survived by his children, Kelly (Brian) Bacon of Spring Arbor, Kim (Kevin) Francis of Yorktown, VA, and Robert “Bob” Chrisman II of Parma; six grandchildren: Amber (Clay) O’Rourke, Whitney (Christopher) Thorrez, Zach Hunt, Jake (Megan) Hunt, Jordan (Rachel) Hunt, and Elizabeth Houston; his loving nieces and nephews: Kathy, Connie, Janie, Mary, Betty Joe, Patty, John, and Jim. In addition to his wife, Charlene, he was preceded in death by his siblings: John, James, Joseph, Mary Ellen, and Josephine.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church, 1320 Catholic Church Road, Leslie, with Fr. Gordon Reigle presiding. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club of Stockbridge or Jackson, the Henrietta Township Fire Department, or Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Knights of Columbus Fr. Gerald F. Chapman Council.
