Billie Gene Jackson, age 89, of Grass Lake, MI, passed away on September 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
Billie was born on October 28, 1935 in Waynesboro, TN, the son of Clarence and Addie (Long) Jackson. He grew up in Waynesboro, TN until the 8th grade. He worked carpentry with his father until he was 18, and then he served in the US Marine Corps from 1953-1957.
On January 17, 1958, he married Wanda J. (Pratt), and they were married for 48 years until her passing in 2006. Together they raised six children. He worked as an asphalt plant operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 for 67 years. He was a hard worker and he loved what he did. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, canoeing, hunting, fishing, and ice fishing. He enjoyed working in the yard, and always had a project going, either tinkering or fixing something.
Surviving are his children: Douglas Jackson of Manchester, Mark (Terri) Jackson of TN, Randy (Dawn) Jackson of Manchester, Linda Kensler (Francis) of Willis, Cindy (Ron) Cowen of Chelsea, and Karen (Russ) Ball of Grass Lake; as well as 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jackson, Norma Walters, and Dora Herndon.
He will be laid to rest with his wife, Wanda, at Oak Grove East Cemetery. All services will be private.
