Dennis Gordon Hoover, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dennis was born on January 6, 1950, in Chelsea, Michigan, to Gerald and Goldie (Clear) Hoover. He was born and raised in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1968. Dennis later made his home in Pinckney, Michigan, where he raised his children.
Dennis enjoyed the simple things in life, including watching the Detroit Tigers, gambling, fishing, playing cards, and working on cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his cats, Marci and Lila, who meant the world to him. After graduating from high school, he worked as a factory worker for Rockwell and later spent many years working in janitorial services for the University of Michigan.
Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his children, Leanne (Luke) Johnson of Pinckney, Michigan; Jason (Leza) Hoover of Brighton, Michigan; and Jodi Hoover of Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane Jacobinski of Chelsea, Michigan; Randy (Kathy) Hoover of Jackson, Michigan; and Robin Hoover-Niles of Grass Lake, Michigan.
He leaves behind five grandchildren: Finn, Owen, Caden, Ava, and Elena.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Goldie Hoover, and by his longtime girlfriend and partner, Jackie Young, who passed away in 2021.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Michigan. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Old Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea, Michigan.
