Betty Lou Benedict

Betty Lou Benedict, age 80, of Manchester, MI, passed away at her home on October 2, 2026.

She was born on October 10, 1945, in Tecumseh, MI, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Briem) Tase. Betty was a lifelong resident of the Manchester area and worked as an administrative assistant for R.D. Kleinschmidt roofing company for many years.

Betty enjoyed playing cards, bingo, Scrabble, and working on puzzles. She was an avid reader and collected Norman Rockwell plates. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flower gardens. Betty looked forward to the Manchester Fair each year and enjoyed cooking for her family. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and could often be found on the sidelines cheering them on at their many sporting events.

Betty is survived by her children, Jeff Kunzelman, Brian (Holly) Kunzelman, Jennifer (Michael) Blumenauer, and Christopher Benedict, all of Manchester; five grandchildren, Ryan, Hayley, Brandon, Caleb, and Carson; and one great-grandson, Holden. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kunzelman; and sister, Shirley Penland.

Visitation will be held at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. at Bethel United Church of Christ, 10425 Bethel Church Rd., Manchester, MI 48158.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel United Church of Christ, with Pastor David Bucholtz officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Manchester Dutchmen Firefighters Association.
