Avanell “Nell” Olson, age 83, of Stockbridge, Michigan, passed away on June 16, 2026, at Chelsea Hospital.
Nell was born on February 15, 1943, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Will Press and Charity (Arnett) Wireman. She grew up in Kentucky and moved to Michigan as a young woman.
Nell began working at MacDee in Chelsea and became an integral part of the company’s growth. Through her dedication, hard work, and versatility, she took on many responsibilities, including bookkeeping, and played an important role in helping the business get established. She was often regarded as their "Number One Employee."
While at MacDee, Nell met her future husband, Lyle Olson. They were married in 1991 at First Congregational Church of Chelsea, where Nell was a longtime member.
Nell enjoyed cooking and baking and was especially known for her homemade carrot cake and brownies. She found joy in sharing her baked goods with family, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Wright; and two brothers, Jack Wireman and Danny Wireman.
Nell is survived by her husband, Lyle Olson; her brother, Tim Wireman; sisters-in-law, Brenda Wireman, Cheri Wireman, Sylvia Lindwall, and Nancy Olson; brothers-in-law, Milo (Nancy) Olson, Harold Olson, and Edward (Sylvia) Lindwall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
