John Edward Doyle, age 93, of Grass Lake, Michigan, passed into eternal life surrounded by loving family at home on November 3rd, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Ann, and children, Patrick (Barbara), Sharon (Michael), Kevin (Susan), John (Tina), Mark (Danielle), and Ann (Walt). He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughters, Mary Beth (1969), and Lynn (2020).
John was born in Springfield, Ohio on September 13, 1932, into the family of Alexander and Helen Doyle. John was one of six children and the last surviving member of his family. After relocating to Detroit, Michigan in 1941, John attended Detroit Catholic Central High School graduating in 1950, and the University of Detroit graduating in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. His military deployment included time spent in Georgia, Arizona, and one year in Ankara, Turkey, where his first son was born on base. He spent his entire working career in the field of tax planning and preparation, working for the IRS, American Motors, JK Lasser, Touche Ross, Bendix, and Highland Appliance, having retired from his profession in 1993.
After John and Mary Ann raised their family in Dearborn Heights, MI for 42 years, they relocated to Grass Lake, MI, to enjoy rural living for the last 23 years. Several of their children also followed and relocated close by. John was a practicing Roman Catholic and loved his faith dearly having attended daily Mass for many years. He also provided that his children were educated in Catholic grade school and high school having made many sacrifices to make this possible. He was a private man who lovingly cherished his growing family, beginning with his first grandchildren and continuing for many years thereafter.
His presence and influence will be missed by all, but in knowing that he led a faith filled and simple life, he has obtained the reward of eternal life in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Visitation to be at Assumption Grotto Roman Catholic Church, 13770 Gratiot Avenue, Detroit, Michigan on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral Mass following, celebrated by Fr. John Bustamante. Contributions may be made in the name of Assumption Grotto Roman Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan if so desired.
