Susan Corser

Sue Ann "Susan" Corser, age 80, of Brooklyn, MI, passed away on February 5, 2026 at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital after a long illness.

She was born the daughter of Frederick and Marian Brail of Dearborn, MI. She is survived by her husband, Kim Corser; her daughter, Kelly Murray, and her son, David Murray; grandson, Matthew Andreoli, and granddaughter, Shelby Andreoli.

She was a retired registered nurse. She was a former member of Temple Beth Israel in Jackson, MI, enjoyed the outdoors, and the arts and sciences.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea.

Marie Stanfield

Genevieve M. "Marie" Stanfield, age 87, of National City, MI, formerly of Gregory, MI, passed away on January 26, 2026 at Faith Haven Senior Care Centre in Jackson, Michigan.

Marie was born on October 15, 1938 in Unadilla Twp., Michigan to Duane and Ellen (Johnson) Jacobs. She married Richard L. "Dick" Stanfield on April 26, 1958, and they lived in Gregory, MI for many years.

Marie worked as an administrative assistant to the principal for Stockbridge Community Schools for many years. She also served as the sexton for Plainfield Cemetery for 30 years and was the treasurer for Unadilla Township for several years. In 1999, she and Richard retired to National City, Michigan. Her favorite hobby was collecting dolls and little figurines. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Susanne Twining of Stockbridge, Michigan and Brian (Jodi) Stanfield of Gregory, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and her siblings: Norman Jacobs of Applegate, Michigan, Eleanor (David) Jacobs of Perry, New York, and Kevin (Cindy) Jacobs of Munith, Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 2013; her sister, Elizabeth Townsend; and her son-in-law, John Twining.

A graveside service will be held at Plainfield Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Plainfield Cemetery.

Roy E. Carter

Roy Edward Carter, age 91, of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters. Roy was born on October 27, 1934, in Summer Shade, Kentucky. After serving in the United States Navy, Roy moved to Michigan, where he met his loving wife of 64 years, Ann.

Roy dedicated 31 years of service to General Motors, where he worked as a committeeman. Following his retirement, he purchased and operated Lakeland Resort near Kentucky Lake, which he ran with his wife for 20 years. Roy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose steady presence, strong work ethic, and sense of responsibility defined his life.

Roy was an avid outdoorsman with extensive knowledge of firearms and a notable skill in restoring and repairing rifles. Hunting and fishing were lifelong pursuits that brought him peace and solace in the great outdoors. He was also a gifted storyteller, known for recalling experiences with clarity and insight. His many stories were treasured by family and friends, and he will be remembered with respect and fondness by all who knew him.

Roy is survived by his three daughters, Kelly Fisher (Matthew), Jill Carter, and Kim Koenn (Matthew); his grandchildren, Charlie Fisher (Lauren), Kevin Fisher (Danielle), and Ryan Koenn; and his three great-grandchildren, Greycen, Colby, and Maizy Fisher.

Roy was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Robin Marie, and his wife, Ann.

Roy's family would like to thank Kennedy Care and Arbor Hospice for their service and support.

Richard G. Hutting

Richard G. Hutting, age 83, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away on January 25, 2026, at Chelsea Hospital in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born on December 23, 1942, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Bernard and Lerene (King) Hutting.

Richard grew up in Ypsilanti. Before graduating from Ypsilanti High School, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division Infantry during the Vietnam War. During his service, Richard was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the Expert Rifleman Badge.

Following his military service, Richard began working at Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a Crib Attendant his entire career. He met his future wife, Sharon Kay Wilde, on a blind date. They were married on June 20, 1968 in Ypsilanti, where they started their life and raised their family.

Richard had a lifelong passion for working on cars. He enjoyed doing bodywork and building vehicles from the ground up, including a Porsche Speedster replica and a 550 Spyder Speedster. He loved attending hot rod shows and participating in parades.

Living on a lake was one of Richard’s lifelong dreams, and in 1991 he and Sharon moved to Vineyard Lake in Brooklyn, Michigan. There, they enjoyed restoring their dream home, boating on their pontoon, and participating in lake activities. Richard loved his neighborhood and was loved by many in the Vineyard Lake community.

Richard is survived by three children: Rebecca Hutting of Howell, Michigan; Jeff Hutting of Rochester, Michigan; and Jamie (Haley) Hutting of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren: Kourtni Hogg, Steven Hogg, Garrison Pokela-Hutting, Carter Pokela-Hutting, Miles Hutting, and Ewan Hutting; and his sisters, Mary Bush and Bernadette (Gary) Bartel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, on October 27, 2018; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Pokela; brothers, Dave Hutting and Bernard Hutting Jr.; brother-in-law, Ron Bush, as well as his parents.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Keith D. Switzenberg

Keith Dale Switzenberg, age 79, of Dansville, Michigan, passed away on January 23, 2026, at Safe Haven Assisted Living in Mason.

Keith was born on December 4, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Dale E. and Alice M. (Fouty) Switzenberg. A lifelong resident of Dansville, he graduated from Dansville High School in 1965. Immediately after graduation, Keith began working for General Motors, where he worked for many years as a forklift operator. He was a proud member of UAW Local 1753.

Growing up, Keith participated in 4H, but always had an interest in farming and sharecropping. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a hardworking man, quiet and stern, but always fair. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and taking family road trips to Texas. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on day trips.

On December 18, 1965, Keith married Linda (Hodgson). They shared more than 55 years of marriage before her passing on June 24, 2021.

Keith is survived by his two children, Tom (April) Switzenberg and Cheri (Brian) Grosshans; three grandchildren, Melissa (Echo) Switzenberg, KC (Skye) Corrette, and Christopher (Ciara) Corrette; as well as his siblings, Ken Switzenberg, Kathy Green, and Kay Switzenberg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Alice Switzenberg; a son-in-law, Cliff Corette, and a brother-in-law, Alan Green.

Janie D. Hughes-Hoffmann

Janie Delaine Hughes-Hoffmann went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2026. The world has now lost one of the brightest and most infectious smiles it has ever seen.

She was a loving mother and grandmother as well as a loyal friend. She will be missed each and every day by her family and friends, whom she loved like family. She enjoyed reading and was dedicated to life-long learning.  She touched so many lives as an Instructor in Higher Education and had a passion for encouraging students to reach their goals. She truly loved seeing them succeed and watching them graduate. Janie also loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved sharing a great meal and fellowship with her loved ones, whether out at a restaurant or spoiling her friends and family with her culinary expertise. If all those touched by Janie could raise a glass and share a great meal in her honor, her loved ones would truly be grateful. 

She is survived by her brother, Thomas Keith Hughes; her firstborn daughter, Dr. Julie Wilson, and son-in-law, Brad Wilson; grandchildren: Karine Wilson, Austin Wilson, Caroline Wilson, and Emily Wilson. She is also survived by her youngest daughter, Sara Volante, and son-in-law, Brian Volante; grandchildren: Jacob Volante, Emelia Volante, Luke Volante, and Blake Volante; as well as her great-grandson, Emilio Volante.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Claus A. Hoffmann; father, Leonard E. Hughes; mother, Juanita Creasy; brother, Britt Hughes; and sisters, Janet Cameron and Phillis Hughes.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Kristen Elizabeth Nolan

Kristen Elizabeth Nolan, age 44, of Orlando, FL, passed away unexpectedly on November 14th, 2025, on Damoy Point/Dorian Bay, Weincke Island, Antarctica, while on an educational exhibition cruise.  

Kristen lived in Orlando with her beloved 14-year-old fur babies, Eli and Caleb. She was born on September 6, 1981 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Terry Nolan and Vickie Patterson. She graduated from Columbia Central High School, Class of 2000, in Brooklyn, MI, and attended Ferris State University, majoring in recreation. She was also a Girl Scout with Irish Hills Girl Scout Counsel of Michigan, as scout, and camp counselor, and a member Phi Sigma Sigma.

She joined the Disney College Program in the early 2000s and remained connected to Disney for more than 15 years. Disney was not just something she enjoyed. It was a constant part of her life. She worked for Disney, attended the parks often, and found genuine happiness there. Many of her family and friends were blessed with her presence as their personal tour guide.

Kristen was also licensed in Cosmetology and Massage Therapy. As a hair instructor at Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Ann Arbor, Kristen enjoyed helping others feel confident in their skills. Even after moving on professionally, she continued to do hair for friends and family. Color was her specialty.

Kristen later would begin exploring a new career as a Cruise Connoisseur for American Express where she was in the top 100 in sales, and in her last year of life, she worked for Panache Cruises. She expressed often how much she loved their values and earnings potential. She loved traveling, spending time with her friends, eating good food, and curling up on the couch with her fur babies.

Kristen was kind, compassionate, and loyal. She never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone, and people immediately felt comfortable with her. She loved children and was a special Auntie to many of her friends’ children. She had a sweet, soft, and gentle way about her, and she gave the best hugs.

The absence of her loving spirit has sent a ripple of tremendous pain and sadness for everyone.

Kristen is survived by her mother, Vickie Patterson of Tennessee; her father, Terry Nolan of Saline; brother, Joshua (Leah Skallerup) Brandt of Iowa; grandmother, Doris L. Brown of Ann Arbor; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents: Morrel J. “Bud” and Ruby Seyfried Patterson, Cecilia “Angel” and David Taylor, and Raymond Nolan; and uncle, Randy Morrell Patterson.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main St., Chelsea, MI on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery.

Patrick M. Heeney

Patrick Martin Heeney, age 79, of Stockbridge, Michigan, passed away on January 21, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on June 7, 1946, the youngest of six children in Stockbridge, where he lived his entire life.

Patrick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Karen; his parents, Lawton and Marceline; his brothers: Bill, Jerry, and Tom; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Mosson and Ken Ahlbaum.

He is survived by his three children, Deb (Billy) Jones, Jason (Yaron) Heeney, and Katie (John) Begalla; his grandchildren: Bridgette, Bryce, Shea, Kirsten, Lotan, and Christopher (Sam); his sisters, Mary Ellen Mosson and Ann (Willis) Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Juanita, Judy, and Gloria Heeney; and many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong member of the Stockbridge community, Patrick was both a farmer and a teacher. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. He began his teaching career with one year at Northwest Schools and spent the remainder of his career at Stockbridge High School, where he taught wood shop, drafting, and mathematics until his retirement. During summers he built houses, and later in life he worked at Polly’s in Chelsea, where he enjoyed his co-workers, meeting new people, and making friends.

Patrick had many interests over his lifetime, including harness horses and card games, especially euchre and cribbage. He was a lifelong member of Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church in Bunkerhill, where he served in many lay roles. He enjoyed traveling to visit his children, particularly trips to North Carolina and Israel. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his humor, and his extraordinary trust in others.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Following cremation, the family will hold a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stockbridge Area Emergency Services Authority (SAESA) or to a charity of one’s choice.

Thelma M. Davidson

Thelma Mae Davidson, age 96, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at Oscoda Fields Assisted Living & Memory Care in Oscoda Township, Michigan.

Thelma was born on May 22, 1929, in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of Ray and Thelma (Tanner) Maples. She was raised in Dearborn and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Physical Education. It was at a horse barn where she met her future husband, Robert H. Davidson. The two were married on October 15, 1952, in Dearborn, and together they raised their family in Novi, Michigan.

In 1995, Thelma and Robert moved to Waterloo Township, where they owned and operated Cedar Haven Farm. Horses were at the heart of their lives, and they took great joy in riding and caring for them. Among their most memorable companions was a zebra-donkey hybrid affectionately named “Stripes,” who lived for more than 28 years. Thelma and Robert shared a deep commitment to 4-H, remaining actively involved for 65 years. They served as 4-H leaders and were both members of the 4-H State Trail Riding Committee.

Beyond her love for horses, Thelma enjoyed quilting and was a founding member of the Alcona County Senior Center Quilting Group. Following Robert’s passing in 2020, she moved to the Oscoda area to be closer to family.

Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her compassion for others and her zest for life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Thelma is survived by her son, Rick Davidson (Jill Ann) of Harrisville, Michigan; her son-in-law, James Rendall; and three grandchildren, Cody Davidson, Dillon (Jordan) Davidson, and Kristen Davidson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert H. Davidson; her son, Robert Davidson Jr.; and her daughter, Gayle Davidson.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Michigan, with Pastor Mary Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Waterloo Township. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chelsea Fair in memory of Thelma.

Sharon F. Bellers

Sharon F. Bellers, age 78, of Grass Lake, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2026.

Born on June 26, 1947, in Stockbridge, Michigan, Sharon was the beloved daughter of Jack and Carol Frinkel. She graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1965 and spent most of her life in the Stockbridge area before moving to Grass Lake in 2018.

On May 11, 1980, Sharon was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clifford Bellers, in Pinckney, Michigan. Together they shared more than 45 blessed years of marriage.

Sharon faithfully served others through her work as an administrative assistant at Chelsea Hospital in the admitting and scheduling department, where her kindness and gentle spirit touched many lives.

Sharon had a joyful heart and a love for dancing and music. She cherished time spent with her family and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her loved ones at their sporting events.

Sharon and Cliff also enjoyed traveling together and especially treasured their winters in Florida. Above all, Sharon’s life was marked by her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her family. Her legacy of compassion, grace, and steadfast faith will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.

Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Cliff Bellers; her children, Jeff Myers of Lansing, Nikki (Eric) Eldridge of Lansing, Amanda (William) Watson of Indiana, Pam Mason of Manchester, Susan (Mike) Miller of Kalamazoo, and Jill (Mike) Croghan of Manchester; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Debbie Kurzynowski of Texas. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents and sister, Diana Stephens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Community Church in Stockbridge, MI at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Crossroads Community Church, where Sharon found great joy and fellowship.
