Beverly E. Hicks

Beverly Elaine Hicks, age 75, of Stockbridge, MI, passed away on November 24, 2022 at her home. Beverly was born on July 25, 1947 in Stockbridge, MI to Floyd and Eleanor (Brooks) Cosgray.

Beverly had lived in the Stockbridge area her entire life. She graduated from Stockbridge High School, and she loved helping people. She loved animals, especially her cats. She worked for Pfizer for 41 years.

On January 4, 1969, she married Gary W. Hicks, and he survives. Also surviving are her sister, Marjorie Cosgray of Stockbridge; sisters-in-law: Barbara Imhoff of Williamston, Sandra Allen of Ovid, Betty (Chris) Rector of Williamston, and Pamela (Dan) Fournier of Perry; many cousins, and her mother-in-law, Mary Hicks of Okemos. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per her family's wishes, she will be cremated, and services will be private. Arrangements by Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home.

Christopher M. Ralston III

Christopher M. Ralston III, beloved baby of Christopher M. Ralston, Jr. and Amanda L. Bachelder, was stillborn on November 21, 2022 at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, MI.

He has two half-brothers, Roman Russell James Andrews (age 8) and Malachi Alexzander Andrews (age 6). Also surviving are his grandparents, Gayla Lynne Ousley, Royce James Bachelder, Christopher Michael Ralston, and Donna Faye DiBiase.

Daryl E. McKimmy

Daryl Eugene McKimmy, age 53, of Stockbridge, MI, passed away on November 16, 2022 at Trinity Health-St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Twp, MI.

Daryl was born on May 13, 1969 in Jackson, MI to Keith and Joyce (Fletcher) McKimmy. Daryl had lived in the Stockbridge area his entire life, graduating from Stockbridge High School in 1987. He worked for many years as a truck driver. He had a sense of humor and great love of his family. He enjoyed going to tractor shows and garage sales, and spending time with family and friends.

On May 23, 1992, he married Andrea Lee (Hughes) in Stockbridge, MI, and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Mallory (Matthew) Donajkowski, and Daryl E. McKimmy II; his grandchildren, Morgan, Maximus, and Oliver; two sisters, Christine Sally and Terri Fletcher; and mother-in-law, Cheryl Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Morgan McKimmy, a brother, Keith McKimmy II, his brother-in-law, Ralph Sally, and father-in-law, Richard Hughes.

Christine L. LeMasters

Christine L. (Woodhouse) LeMasters, age 103, of Jackson, MI, former manager of Setters Rest Kennels, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born in Bloomingdale, MI on July 10, 1919, daughter of LaRue and Iva (Leedy) Woodhouse.

Valedictorian of the class of 1936, she met her husband, W. Howard LeMasters, while working as a "soda jerk" and pharmacy intern in Bloomingdale. They raised one son, Michael.

Gram Chris enjoyed setting a beautiful table, preparing meals for and entertaining as many people as possible, reading, attending church, and making the absolute best blueberry pies. She also loved every animal, great or small. Gram Chris attributed her longevity to "good living, loving the Lord, and always working."

Survivors include grandson, Tyler LeMasters of Jackson; (step-)granddaughters, Shelly Finch and Penny Peterson Murray of Jackson; great-granddaughter, Brianna LeMasters of Jackson; (step-)great-grandchildren, James (Miranda) Finch of Elmira, MI and their children, Ruth Ann and JJ, Tyler Finch of Escanaba, MI and his son, Elliott, and Trevor Murray of Mineral Point, WI; older sister, Maxine Horton of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews; and indoor cat, Izzy, and outdoor cat, Gritz. Christine was predeceased by her husband, Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ruth Ann LeMasters; grandson, Michael LeMasters II; and siblings, James Woodhouse and Irene Ottoman.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, MI, with visitation 9-10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cascades Humane Society of Jackson, MI in memory of Christine.

Rodger D. Messner

Rodger Dale Messner, age 67, of Munith, MI, passed away on November 15, 2022 at his home. Rodger was born on November 23, 1954 in Jackson, MI to Dale and Ethel (Stanfield) Messner.

Rodger had lived in the Munith area his entire life. He married his first love, Linda Sherrod. Although their marriage ended in divorce, she was helpful to him through his illness and at the end of his life.

Rodger had two daughters, and they survive him: Roxanna (Jim) Green of Grass Lake, and Cheryl (Jamie) Sweezey of Jackson. He is also survived by a sister, Janet (Phil) Criner of Jackson; three grandchildren, Dale (Sonya) Green, Gracie Messner, and Isaac Sweezey; two great-granddaughters, Joyce Green and Elena Green; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Shirley Clemons, Mabel Whal, and Sharon Fidler, and a brother, Ray Messner.

Although he was known for being stubborn, Rodger had a strong love for his family. He also loved hunting, fishing, and being in the woods, and watching Westerns.

Edward Arthur Zick

Edward Arthur Zick was born May 12, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Thomas and Margaret Zick.

He married Lori Jacobs on May 5, 1973 in Stockbridge, Michigan. Ed graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1970. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University in 1974. He also obtained a private pilot’s license from Western. He worked for the State of Michigan for 30 years.

After retiring from the State, he obtained his builders license and enjoyed construction. He worked as a handyman to several people in the community and even past coworkers. He went into business with his son-in-law, Mike Dalton, as Dalton and Zick Builders. He loved the Lord and spent many years gaining knowledge of the Bible. He led or assisted in leading, small group in his home for years, which led to lasting close friendships. He served as Finance Director at Stockbridge United Methodist Church, then when a church change occurred, became the Finance Director at Crossroads Community Church and served on the Board.

He loved his family with his whole heart. He was blessed with three daughters, two sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating at his cottage. He loved sports, whether it be watching it, playing it, or coaching it. He loved puzzles, yard work, and cheering on his grandchildren. He was known for his smile, wit, and wisdom. He played the piano, dulcimer, guitar, and any instrument by ear. He loved his country and was very patriotic.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori, daughters, Jamie Zick, Leah Dalton (Mike), Julie Weare (Justin); grandchildren, Kaylee Dalton, Maddie Dalton, Jacob Dalton, Allie Dalton, Zachary Weare, Lucas Weare, Joshua Weare, and Chloe Weare; brothers, Tom Zick (Marilyn), Bob Zick (Patricia), Steve Zick (Darby), Bill Zick (Carol); sisters, Mary VanAuken, Beth Lancewicz (Garry); as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Crossroads Community Church on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery.

Peggy Mae Boles

Peggy Mae Boles passed away at her home in Chelsea, Michigan on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022 at the age of 77.

She was a wonderful and kind woman who was loved by all who met her. She married her love, the late Stephen Boles in 1981. They loved to take long walks and just be together.

Peggy was known for her spaghetti and for her fantastic desserts. She was notorious for her love and hate of "Democracy.”

She is survived by three children, Brian (Beth) Fargher, Wendy Fargher, and Jason (Jill) Fargher, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are her sisters, Barbera Peters and Julie Scott, one nephew, Jeff Peters, and one niece, Jill Covington. Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen, and her mother and father, Jay and Betty Willer. The impact she had on this world will last forever, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Theodore J. "Ted" Addison

Theodore “Ted” John Addison October 14, 1937 – September 16, 2022

Theodore “Ted” John Addison, age 84, of Cameron Park, Calif, died peacefully on September 16, 2022. Ted was born in Jackson, Mich. on Oct 14, 1937 to Robert R. and Marian L. (Turk) Addison. After Ted graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Jackson, Mich. in 1955, he went on to study at St. Joseph’s College in Indiana. He later served proudly in the National Guard.

In 1957, Ted met Shirley Ellen Cavender at Clark Lake, Mich., and they were married in 1961 and went on to have two children, Dane Lawrence and Michelle “Shellie” Kathryn Cook.

Ted's professional career spanned many years in sales and marketing for various companies like Aeroquip in Mich. and Stemco, out of Texas, which brought him to Calif in 1979. Ted eventually owned his own travel agency in Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills. He loved the community and served on numerous committees and boards of directors for area Chamber of Commerce’s consisting of El Dorado County, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills and Folsom. He thoroughly enjoyed mixing it up with the local community members and volunteering at events including the annual Folsom Pro Rodeo.

Ted was a sports fanatic. He spent his entire life cheering on the University of Michigan and Notre Dame athletics teams. His biggest struggle was who to cheer for when Michigan played Notre Dame, even as a Michigan football season ticket holder. He also enjoyed most of his time on the golf course. While these were his favorite pastimes, his greatest joy was sitting on the bleachers watching his granddaughter, Bailey, play softball and his grandson, Dalton, play football.

Ted was predeceased by his brother, Daniel R. and both parents. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Shirley, and their two children, Dane and Shellie. As well as, son-in-law Sean Cook, grandchildren Bailey Addison and Dalton James Cook; nephew Steven T. Addison and wife Diane, great-nephew Stephen, great-nieces Ashley (Nobriga) and Alicia; and niece Danielle Addison. Also survived by nephew, Mike Cavender and nieces Kelly Russell, Tricia Prusakiewicz , Betsy Cavender and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Ted’s strength, unparalleled. Stubbornness, unprecedented. His uncanny sense of humor, priceless. Ted, you will forever be in our hearts and missed by many. We are all blessed to have known you in our different walks of life.

California services will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3111 Tierra de Dios Dr. El Dorado Hills, CA 95762.

Michigan services will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 120 East Wesley Street, Jackson, MI 49201.

Sharon Hoffman

Sharon Hoffman, of Chelsea, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 83.

Sharon was an incredible woman who left behind a loving family and a large legacy. She was born on June 6, 1939 in Leonard, MI to Nestor and Alberta Coulter. She was the fourth of ten children. She met the love of her life, Paul, at the Cleary College Snowflake Serenade Ball. They were inseparable and had 60 wonderful years together.

Sharon was an incredible cook, and everyone always asked her to bring one of her pies to many occasions. She loved Christmas and decorated with zeal each and every year. This was her favorite time of the year. She and Paul raised three girls together, Jennice, Janine, and Jamie. She passed on so many wonderful skills to ‘her girls’. They know how to cook, clean, craft, and love their children because of her guidance and love.

Sharon drove a school bus for a number of years and was always fondly remembered by those students who rode her bus. After retirement, she volunteered for a number of years at Faith in Action. She was strong in her faith and passed that along to her entire family.

Sharon was thrilled as her family grew to include sons-in-law and many grandchildren. She is survived by Jennice and Tom Moylan, Janine and Rick Hartman, Jamie and Jason Adkins. Her grandchildren include Connor and Nicole Hartman, Abigail Moylan, Jacob Hartman, Aleah Moylan, Madison Adkins, Hannah Adkins, Alexia Moylan, Charity Moylan, and Mahala Moylan. Her great-grandchildren include Damien, Caleb, William, Amaria and Kai.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Nestor Coulter, in-laws, John and Evelyn Hoffman, siblings, Margery Hutton, Delores and Phillip Mielock, Helen and Robert Mallard, Robert Coulter, and Daniel Coulter. She is survived by siblings, Dorothy (LaVerne) Behnke, Charlie (Cheryl) Coulter, Cathy Strong, and Denise (Arlan) Winslow.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rosary, a family eulogy, and an invitation to remember Sharon will start at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, followed by a graveside burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mark Stone

Mark Stone, of Leslie, MI, died Friday, November 4, 2022 in Jackson, MI at the age of 60.

Mark was born to Robert Stone and Irma (Norton) on January 6, 1962 in Mason, MI. Mark was a huge mama’s boy and loved his mama. Mark married Linda Jean Cavin May 16, 1980 and had four children before the age of 21.

He was a devoted father who loved his children. He liked working on cars, camping, fishing, music, playing his guitar, chopping wood. He loved to laugh and tell jokes, and loved living in the country.

Mark is survived by his children, Mark Garold Stone, Karen Renee Stone, twins Jason Eric Stone and Julie Ann (Stone) Lawson, and his youngest son, Neil Stone; son-in-law, Jerry Dallas Lawson, Jr, daughter-in-law, Kristine Stone (Dwight); his grandchildren, Cassidy (18), Dakota (17), Kirsten (16), Haiden (16), Mark (15), Adrionna (15), Isiah (14), Nevaeh (13), Abbie (12), Cherokee (11), Rocky (7), Keygan (7), Novalee (6), Angel (6), Catalina (4), and Memphis (2); his brothers, Mitchell Stone and Jake Stone, sisters-in-law, Cathy Stone (Bartley), and Tina Stone (Stevens), lots of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; his girlfriend, Vanyce Hall, her children, Jennifer Hall, Derek Gibson, Lacey Gibson, and all Vanyce’s grandchildren.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Irma Smith, his father, Robert Stone, step-father, Billy Joe Smith, sister, Janet Kay Stone, brothers, Rocky Stone, Rolland Stone, and Robert Stone, and granddaughter, Isabel Stone (age 5).

Mark will be remembered for his love of music, his beautiful voice, and his love for laughter and life.

His children will be doing something personal and private with Mark’s ashes and a Celebration of Life party will be announced at a later date.
